東日本大震災被災者緊急支援のお願い

皆様、すでにご存じのとおり、先週末に発生しました東北地方太平洋沖大地震は各地に甚大な被害を及ぼしております。私たちは祈りを合わせ、力を合わせて、この危機を乗り切りたいと考えます。
緊急支援に関して、すでにさまざまな問い合わせ・お申し出をいただいておりますが、被災地域が一日も早く復興し、困難の中にある方々が一刻も早く平穏な生活に戻ることができるよう、私どもは緊急支援募金を呼びかけることにいたしました。
どうぞ、ご協力くださいますよう、お願い申しあげます。

NCCJ Emergency Appeal for Relief of Earthquake Victims

Dear Ecumenical friends;

In the name of our Lord, the Suffering Servant, we thank you for your prayers for those who have suffered great loss of life and property in the series of record-breaking earthquakes and huge tsunami that have inundated a wide swath of communities along the northeast coastline of Japan.

Our regular session of the executive council was in the midst of a discussion on the next steps for our restructuring when the first massive shock rocked the Anglican Church of St. Barnabas where we were meeting. We all evacuated to the street, which was filled with people from all the neighboring buildings. After more similar interruptions, we finally finished our session, only to discover with millions of others in Tokyo that the only way home was on foot. Many of us walked hours before reaching home, while others sought temporary shelter for the night. But our brief period of being “refugees” does not compare with those whose lives and communities have been totally devastated.

NCCJ will continue in assessing the damages and recovery will take some time. However we have been encouraged and strengthened by the many messages of support from our Christian brothers and sisters all over the world. Our immediate request is for you to continue to keep us in your prayers as we are coordinating a network of local support for those most severely affected.

At this time of our great need, we want you to know how grateful we are for your expressions of support and solidarity.
